Notes on Method

Synthadox is grounded in the view that technological upheaval places pressure not only on institutions and economies, but on the everyday reasoning and sense-making processes of people living through such changes. In such contexts, neither moral certainty nor technical expertise alone is sufficient for navigating toward a better future.

Work published here focuses on conceptual and existential clarification, treating clarity not as ivory-tower pedantry but as a practical tool for understanding and action. The site examines the assumptions, expectations, and misrecognitions circulating within AI research, safety discourse, and the public imagination. It is concerned with how to think responsibly about increasingly autonomous systems while remaining attentive to human experience and the consequences for social and material networks.

The site is maintained by Holly Lewis, a philosopher working in AI ethics, virtual worlds, and social philosophy, and operates alongside institutional research, teaching, and grant-funded projects. Writing appears irregularly and accumulates over time, with occasional guest contributions.
